Air Pressure Testing, Permeability, and Ventilation Services in Aylesbury and Buckinghamshire
Air Pressure Tests
When building a new dwelling, your energy assessor will have set an air pressure test (APT) value for the dwelling to achieve compliance. When having an APT you must achieve a score under the number set by your energy assessor. The test is done by sealing the extract vents, trickle vents, chimneys and mechanical extract vents if necessary, then a frame is placed in the front door with a fan attached that will suck air through the dwelling measuring the flow through the fan and the pressure inside and outside of the dwelling to give the final score. On a failure, we are happy to advise how to achieve the result next time around.
Ventilation System Tests
Proper ventilation is essential for maintaining good indoor air quality and preventing moisture build-up. During an APT, we can also test the performance of your ventilation system, ensuring it operates effectively to remove stale air and pollutants.
Things to check BEFORE THE TESTER ARRIVES
To ensure a smooth testing process, here are some key things to check before our arrival:
- Is the envelope complete? The most common reason for a failed test is that the building is not complete or there are holes that have been looked over.
- Are all of the windows in place?
- Where pipework/wiring penetrates the envelope, has it been sealed?
